Hamilton Bohannon was a drummer and bandleader, and his music sits in the rich tradition of funk: rhythm up front, with every part working toward a pulse you can feel. On this 1974 Dakar single, “South African Man (Pt. 1)” appears on both sides, a title that gives the record its own unmistakable focus. The label and catalog number are Dakar DK 4539. Funk has always made room for repetition that builds rather than simply circles back, turning a firm beat into a place for movement. Bohannon’s rhythmic roots are right at home in that tradition.

Label: Dakar
Catno: DK 4539
Year: 1974
Genre: Funk / Soul
Style: Disco, Funk, Soul
Country: United States
Artist country: United States
Media condition: Very Good (VG)
Sleeve condition: Generic

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/0788/7187/files/wm_xa14213_side_a_hamilton_bohannon_south_african_man_pt_1.jpg?v=1793515781
