ace-cannon-baby-don-t-get-hooked-on-me-ruff-ya16323
Ace Cannon - Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me / Ruff

Ace Cannon brings his saxophonist’s touch to a strikingly varied 1973 single, setting the familiar title “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” alongside “Ruff.” The pairing sits at the crossroads of rhythm and blues, soul, and country-inflected popular music, where a melody can travel easily between styles without losing its character. Cannon’s work as a saxophonist gives the release a natural connection to the expressive, vocal-like tradition of R&B horn playing, a sound built on phrasing as much as volume. Issued in the United States by Hi Records as 45-2718, this single finds its interest in the contrast between its two concise, memorable titles.

Label: Hi Records
Catno: 45-2718
Year: 1973
Genre: Folk, World, & Country, Funk / Soul
Style: Rhythm & Blues
Country: United States
Artist country: United States
Media condition: Very Good Plus (VG+)
Sleeve condition: Generic

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/0788/7187/files/wm_ya16323_side_a_ace_cannon_baby_don_t_get_hooked_on_me.jpg?v=1793078533
