The Westbound Strings / Byron Mac Gregor - America The Beautiful / Americans

Beschrijving
Two different voices of American identity share this 1973 single. The Westbound Strings take up “America The Beautiful,” a title rooted in the country’s enduring patriotic song tradition; on the other side, Byron Mac Gregor presents “Americans,” bringing speech into the mix. That meeting of light music and spoken word gives the record its distinctive shape: one side turns toward a familiar national song, while the other addresses the idea of the nation directly. Issued in the United States by Westbound Records as W 222, it captures a moment when popular records could place instrumental music and public rhetoric in conversation.
