ken-matthews-the-mills-on-fire-the-mills-on-fire-ya17052
Ken Matthews - The Mills On Fire / The Mills On Fire

A little funk, a lot of soul: Ken Matthews brings both to “The Mills On Fire,” a 1974 Stax Records single with the same title on each side. The pairing gives the song a place to linger, while its name hints at a vivid, kinetic spirit without telling us what to hear in the music. Funk and soul have long met in grooves built for movement and feeling, balancing rhythmic drive with the expressive pull of soul. That conversation is part of the pleasure here. Issued as STN-0233, this single connects Ken Matthews with a tradition where a strong groove can carry a song’s whole character.

Label: Stax Records
Catno: STN-0233
Year: 1974
Genre: Funk / Soul
Style: Country rock, Southern rock
Country: United States
Artist country: USA
Media condition: Very Good Plus (VG+)
Sleeve condition: Generic

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/0788/7187/files/wm_ya17052_side_a_ken_matthews_the_mills_on_fire.jpg?v=1793018450
