Sometimes a new story for Waxer.eu does not begin with a big collection, a business trip or a new batch of singles being photographed. Sometimes it begins with a DJ walking into our warehouse, picking up a stack of 7 inch records and turning them into music again.
At Waxer.eu, we work with thousands of 7 inch singles. Small records, often played at 45 rpm, each with their own sound, history and character. Some are well known, some are forgotten and some are exactly the kind of record you only discover when you start digging through boxes with real attention.
This time, a soul DJ visited our warehouse. He had bought records from us before and came back with a beautiful selection of 7 inch singles. Soul, jazz, funk and everything in between. The kind of records that may look small, but can completely fill a room once the needle touches the groove.
Because Waxer.eu is part of VinylFarm.EU, our warehouse is more than just a place where records are stored, sorted and photographed. It is also a place where music is played again. We regularly invite DJs to come over, dig through our stock and record a set in the middle of the warehouse.
For us, that is important. A record is not only an item in a webshop. It is not only a title, a label or a condition grade. A record is made to be played. And when a DJ takes a stack of 7 inch singles and turns them into a full set, you immediately feel why we do all this work.
The set was recorded in the Waxer.eu warehouse, which is also part of the bigger VinylFarm.EU story. Every day, new music appears on our YouTube channel, recorded among the records, boxes and shelves that are part of our daily work. It gives people a look behind the scenes, but more importantly, it shows what these records can still do.
This soul set was a perfect example of that. The DJ played a selection of 7 inch singles with a warm, soulful and funky sound. Records that came from our stock, were chosen with care and then brought back to life through the turntables. That is one of the most beautiful things about used vinyl. A record can sit quietly in a box for years, and then suddenly become part of a new set, a new moment and a new audience.
At Waxer.eu, we believe that every 7 inch single deserves that chance. That is also why we photograph the real item. We do not want to hide behind stock images or standard database pictures. We want people to see the actual record they are buying, because every copy is different.
The same goes for music itself. You can describe a record, you can photograph it and you can list it online, but the real magic happens when it is played. When a DJ puts those singles together, the records stop being separate items and become one story.
That is what made this session so special. It was not a polished studio recording far away from the records themselves. It was filmed right where the records live before they go to a new owner. In the warehouse. Between the shelves. Surrounded by the same stock that visitors can find on Waxer.eu.
For us, these sessions are a way to connect everything we do. The collecting, the sorting, the photographing, the selling and finally the playing. Waxer.eu is a webshop, but it is also part of a much bigger love for vinyl. We want people to discover records, but we also want them to hear what is still hidden inside all those small 7 inch singles.
And that is why we enjoy having DJs over so much. They look at records in their own way. They find combinations we might not expect. They hear energy, rhythm and feeling in records that others might overlook. Especially with soul, jazz and funk, a 7 inch single can carry so much character in just a few minutes of music.
