That is why we offer a form of payment after delivery. Not because we believe everyone should order everything on credit, but because Dutch consumer law does not allow a webshop to force customers to pay the full amount in advance for physical products that still need to be delivered.

Peace of mind before pressure
Paying in advance is perfectly fine. Many customers like iDEAL, credit card or PayPal because it is fast and easy. But it should be a choice. Not the only door in the checkout.
For physical products sold to consumers in the Netherlands, the rule is clear. A customer may not be required to pay more than 50% of the purchase price before delivery. That means a webshop must offer a way in which at least part of the payment is not forced before the order is delivered.

Law before loud opinions
Some webshops present not offering payment after delivery as a bold choice. We understand the idea behind responsible buying, but the legal reality is different.
Dutch Civil Code Book 7, Article 26, paragraph 2 states in simple terms that in a consumer purchase, the buyer may be required to pay in advance no more than half of the purchase price.
So payment after delivery is not just a trendy checkout feature. It is connected to a legal principle. The customer should not be pushed into 100% advance payment as the only standard option.
