Bonnie Elbert / Ronnie Elbert - I Can't Help Myself / I Can't Help Myself

Description
Two voices meet the same song from different sides: Bonnie Elbert takes “I Can't Help Myself” on one, while Ronnie Elbert answers with his own version on the other. That shared title gives this Avco single, catalog AV-4587, its quiet intrigue—not a story of opposites, but a chance to hear two distinct interpretations gathered around one piece of soul. Motown-style soul has long made a song’s emotional core feel immediate, carried by direct phrasing and an easy sense of connection. Here, the paired performances put that tradition’s central pleasure in focus: a familiar song can become personal all over again when another voice steps in.
