The Soul Stirrers Featuring Sam Cooke - Wonderful / Farther Along

Description
On Specialty, The Soul Stirrers Featuring Sam Cooke bring two gospel quartet songs together on this 7-inch single: “Wonderful” and “Farther Along.” Gospel quartet singing turns shared voices into a way of carrying faith, comfort and feeling, with each song rooted in a tradition built for both individual expression and communal response. The Soul Stirrers’ name gives this release its place in that tradition, while Sam Cooke is named in the artist credit. Specialty catalog number XSP-892 identifies this United States pressing. The titles themselves point toward the enduring reach of gospel: praise and perseverance, held together in songs meant to be shared.
