The Soul Stirrers Featuring Sam Cooke - Wonderful / Farther Along

Description
The Soul Stirrers Featuring Sam Cooke bring gospel quartet singing into close, purposeful focus on this single, where the shared voice is as central as any solo line. Gospel quartets have long drawn their power from voices answering and lifting one another, turning songs of faith into music shaped by both individual feeling and communal strength. Here, “Wonderful” and “Farther Along” give that tradition two distinct titles to carry: one word of praise, then a phrase that points toward patience and hope. Issued by Specialty as catalog XSP-892, this United States pressing offers a compact meeting with a lasting gospel form: voices moving together in faith.
