Tony Curtis / Ricky (Mad Man) Myrie - Want Somebody / Version 2002

Description
Tony Curtis and Ricky (Mad Man) Myrie meet on a 1997 dancehall single built around the enduring reggae tradition of the riddim: one musical foundation, inviting different voices and versions into the conversation. Curtis takes the vocal side with “Want Somebody,” while Myrie answers with “Version 2002,” keeping the shared pulse at the heart of the release. That interplay between a song and its version is part of dancehall’s distinctive way of making a familiar groove feel open-ended, with each turn adding a new perspective. Issued in Jamaica by Mo Music Productions as MM 010, it captures that tradition in miniature.
