Anne Murray - You Can't Go Back / Love Song

Description
Soft rock has a way of making its gentlest moments linger. Anne Murray brings that easy, song-centered appeal to this 1972 single, pairing “You Can't Go Back” with “Love Song.” The titles suggest two different kinds of reflection, but the pleasure here is in letting each song stand on its own, without asking them to tell the same story. Released in Canada on Capitol, catalog number 3776, the record belongs to a tradition that prized clear melodies and warmth over hard edges. Murray is a singer, and this pairing keeps the focus where it belongs: on songs carried by a voice and shaped for attentive listening.
