Area Code (212) - Manhattan Shuffle / Daddy

Description
“Manhattan Shuffle” puts the city right in the title, and its companion, “Daddy,” gives Area Code (212) a second name to carry into the story. On a 1979 Friends & Co. release, catalog #131, the pair belongs to disco’s lively conversation with funk and soul: dance music built around a steady pulse, sharp rhythmic interplay and the pleasure of moving together. The record’s New York reference feels especially apt for a style that found ways to turn urban energy into shared motion. Area Code (212) keeps the focus on two concise titles, with the shuffle and the daddy side standing as the facts on offer.
