Aretha Franklin - Angel / Sister From Texas

Description
“Angel” and “Sister From Texas” meet on this 1973 single by Aretha Franklin, bringing two distinct titles into the rich conversation between rhythm and blues and soul. Franklin’s voice stands at the heart of soul’s expressive tradition, where feeling and phrasing can give a song its own unmistakable shape. Issued by Atlantic as catalog number 45-2969, this United States pressing belongs to a period when the single was a natural home for a song’s most immediate statement. The titles invite a closer look at Franklin’s place in that tradition: soul’s enduring power rests in the meeting of a distinctive voice and a song made to be sung.
