Atlantic Starr - Bring It Back Home Again / Masterpiece

Description
“Bring It Back Home Again” meets “Masterpiece” on this 1989 single by Atlantic Starr, pairing a ballad title with one that suggests something grand without asking the music to explain itself in advance. The group’s soul and contemporary R&B world sits at a meeting point where tenderness and polished pop craft can share the same songbook; New Jack Swing was also part of the era’s wider R&B vocabulary. Released on Reprise as 7-19076, this United States pressing preserves that particular moment in the late-eighties conversation between soul balladry and modern R&B. Two titles, and a little reminder that love songs can hold their place in changing times.
