Ben & Spence - Ooh Poo Pah Doo / I Do

Description
Ben & Spence bring “Ooh Poo Pah Doo” into the lively, communal spirit of soul, where a strong refrain can turn a song into an invitation to join in. The title itself carries the flavor of classic New Orleans R&B, a tradition built on rhythmic lift, playful vocal hooks and the easy exchange between performer and crowd. Their take sits on Atlantic, with catalog number 45-2460, and makes a fine entry point into that enduring conversation between soul and rhythm and blues. Turn the record over for “I Do,” a concise title that leaves room for its own moment. The pairing keeps the pleasure in the songs themselves.
