Boots Randolph - Yakety Sax / The Shadow Of Your Smile

Description
A little country swing goes a long way. Boots Randolph was a saxophonist, and this 1953 single brings his name together with two very different titles: “Yakety Sax” and “The Shadow Of Your Smile.” Country-pop, instrumental country and the polished Nashville Sound meet the broader spirit of jazz and pop here, traditions that have always made room for a melody to travel between styles. Polka and swing add further context to the record’s musical neighborhood, where a clear tune can carry a lot of character. Issued by Monument as ZS8 8908, this United States pressing connects Randolph with a lively, cross-genre strain of American popular music.
