Candi Staton - So Blue / Victim

Description
Candi Staton brings soul’s gift for turning feeling into a direct, human voice to this 1978 single. “So Blue” opens the story, then “Victim” gives the other side its title; together, the songs place two distinct names in the tradition of soul records built around a singer’s presence. Disco and soul meet in the era’s lively musical conversation, where dance rhythms and expressive vocals could share the same space. Issued in the USA by Warner Bros. Records as WBS 8582, this single offers a compact point of entry to Staton’s work as a soul singer—and to a tradition that keeps emotion close to the beat.
