Carl Dobkins, Jr. - My Heart Is An Open Book / My Pledge To You

Description
Decca’s 30803 brings Carl Dobkins, Jr. to the small, direct canvas of a rock-and-roll single, with “My Heart Is An Open Book” paired with “My Pledge To You.” Dobkins was a rock-and-roll singer, and these titles sit in the tender, openly romantic world that helped teen-idol records speak straight to young listeners. Rockabilly’s lean roots and rock & roll’s forward motion meet the pop-minded appeal of a memorable song and a voice at its center. There’s something enduring about that plainspoken promise in the title: early rock made big feelings feel close at hand, and a song could carry them in just a few minutes.
