Carol Sloane - I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire / I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine

Description
For a little vocal jazz with a pop touch, Carol Sloane brings two familiar song titles together on this Columbia single, catalog number 4-43385. “I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire” carries the charm of a standard whose appeal lies in its plainspoken declaration, while “I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine” turns toward another enduring thread in popular song: affection expressed with a wink. Sloane is a jazz vocalist, and this pairing sits in the rich tradition of singers making songs their own through phrasing and personality. These titles show how a good song can invite a fresh voice without losing its character.
