Chubby Wise - Big Beaver / Beer Barrell Polka

Description
Chubby Wise brings a country sensibility to “Big Beaver,” a title that sits comfortably in the playful, plainspoken world of traditional roots music. Bluegrass and country have long made room for tunes that travel lightly: direct melodies, sturdy rhythms and a spirit made for passing around. Here, Wise’s name leads the way into that tradition, without any need for a grand introduction. Turn the record over for “Beer Barrell Polka,” whose title points toward the lively social-dance tradition shared across folk music. Stoneway Records issued this release as catalog number 1063. These tunes belong to a tradition built to keep moving from one gathering to the next.
