Commodores - Just To Be Close To You / Fancy Dancer

Description
The Commodores bring two sides of soul into conversation here. “Just To Be Close To You” puts closeness at the heart of its title, while “Fancy Dancer” turns toward a more playful image; together, the songs make a neat pairing without needing to tell the same story twice. The Commodores are a funk and soul group, and this 1976 single sits in the rich tradition of soul records that let a compact release hold contrasting moods and ideas. Issued in the USA on Motown Yesteryear Series, MOT-593 keeps both titles together, inviting a fresh look at a group whose name belongs firmly in soul’s vocabulary.
