Cortijo (And His Time Machine) Y Su Maquina Del Tiempo - Carnaval / La Lluvia

Description
“Carnaval” and “La Lluvia” bring two evocative titles together on a 1973 single by Cortijo (And His Time Machine) Y Su Maquina Del Tiempo. The record’s listed styles—bolero, bomba, guaracha, jíbaro and plena—point toward a rich Puerto Rican musical world, where song and dance traditions carry their own distinct rhythms and histories. Here those traditions meet a funk and soul setting, a lively crossing of musical languages rather than a single lane. Coco Records issued the 7-inch in the USA as CFF5015. The range of styles named for the release is a reminder of how many different roots can meet in one artist’s musical vocabulary.
