Culture Club - Church Of The Poison Mind / Mystery Boy

Description
Culture Club bring “Church Of The Poison Mind” to the fore, a 1983 single from a group working at the colourful intersection of pop and synth-pop. The song’s title carries a touch of theatrical drama, while the record belongs to a tradition in which bright electronic textures and sharp pop hooks could share the same space. On the flip, “Mystery Boy” gives the release its other named chapter, inviting a little curiosity without giving away its character. Issued by Epic as 34-04144, this single catches pop in a moment when synthesizers were becoming part of its everyday vocabulary—and Culture Club made that vocabulary their own.
