Dakota Staton - (I Want A) Country Man / I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know

Description
“(I Want A) Country Man” opens a lively meeting between Dakota Staton’s jazz sensibility and the bold sweep of big-band tradition. The style has always made room for a singer to stand firmly at the center, with a full ensemble giving the melody its lift and drama; Staton brings that same sense of presence to “I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know,” letting the two titles sit together without losing their distinct character. Released by Groove Merchant as SGM 1017, this United States pressing offers a compact encounter with Staton, a jazz vocalist whose work belongs to a tradition built around voice, rhythm and expressive phrasing.
