Danny Johnson - Red Hot Mama / Future Past

Description
There’s a lovely looseness to late-’70s funk and soul: dance music with room for a deep groove and a little grit. Danny Johnson brings that spirit to this 1978 single, moving from “Red Hot Mama” to “Future Past” without needing grand gestures to make the titles stick. Disco’s steady pulse and funk’s elastic feel were finding common ground in the era, giving soulful records fresh ways to keep people moving. Released in the United States on First American, catalog FA-108, this 7-inch belongs to that lively moment when the dance floor could make space for both polish and punch.
