Diana Ross - Upside Down / Friend To Friend

Description
Diana Ross brings a bright, assured presence to “Upside Down,” a title that sits comfortably beside the warm-hearted “Friend To Friend.” Both songs draw on the shared roots of soul and disco: music made for movement, but never short on feeling. Disco’s steady pulse gave soul’s expressive voice a fresh dance-floor setting, and that meeting still makes these tracks an inviting entry into Ross’s music. Issued by Motown as M 1494F in 1980, this United States single captures a moment when the groove could be both elegant and full of lift. Ross’s voice remains the thread connecting dance-floor energy with soul’s human warmth.
