Issued in 1974 as a United States 7-inch single, this release pairs “Wild Thing” with “Fancy,” a neat turn in which the title of the A-side also names the artist. Fancy brings a pop-rock setting to a song long associated with the unruly, direct spirit of rock: a simple title, a vivid central phrase, and the pleasure of a tune that invites a fresh take. On Big Tree Records, catalog number BT-15004, the pairing has an appealing little twist without needing any grand explanation. These two titles make a concise meeting point between a familiar rock song and the act called Fancy.
