First Choice - Smarty Pants / One Step Away

Description
Philly Groove Records’ 1973 release brings First Choice to the dance floor with “Smarty Pants” and “One Step Away,” two titles from the group’s early disco-era catalog. In the rich Philadelphia soul tradition, dance music could carry both a steady pulse and the warmth of vocal harmony, making the groove feel inviting rather than mechanical. This 7-inch single, catalog number 179, gives that tradition a concise home: one title catches the eye, while the other offers a complementary entry point into the record. First Choice’s name sits at the center of both sides, and the pairing reflects disco’s knack for making a song’s rhythmic lift part of its appeal.
