First Choice - Smarty Pants / One Step Away

Description
First Choice bring “Smarty Pants” into the bright, rhythmic world of early disco, where soul’s warmth meets a steady pulse made for dancing. The group’s name suits a song that turns a playful title into an invitation to move, while its funk and soul roots keep the groove grounded. On the flip, “One Step Away” offers a second glimpse of First Choice’s place in that rich Philadelphia-rooted tradition of dance music, where a strong beat and expressive vocals could share the floor. Issued in 1973 on Philly Groove Records, catalog number 179, this U.S. single captures disco as a meeting point between soul feeling and dance-floor momentum.
