Freddie Hubbard - Super Blue / Super Blue

Description
Freddie Hubbard brings the title track “Super Blue” into a jazz-funk setting where brass can meet the groove without losing its sense of adventure. Hubbard was a jazz trumpeter, and that tradition gives the music its distinctive balance: a strong melodic voice out front, with rhythm doing more than simply keeping time. Jazz-funk thrives on that conversation, letting improvisation and a steady pulse share the same space. The flip side also carries “Super Blue,” making the track the heart of this 1978 Columbia single, catalog number 3-10812. It’s a neat meeting of jazz’s open-ended spirit and funk’s grounded momentum.
