General Public - Hot You're Cool / Day-To-Day

Description
New wave and ska revival meet in the music of General Public, where the restless lift of ska finds room alongside the sharper edges of rock. On the A-side, “Hot You're Cool” gives way to “Day-To-Day” on the flip, a pair of titles that suggest two different ways of moving through the everyday without spelling out their stories. The 1984 United States pressing brings both together on I.R.S., catalog number IR-9937. Ska’s buoyant pulse has long made space for tension as well as release; set beside new wave’s wiry energy, it remains a lively tradition of contrasts.
