George Benson - Unchained Melody (Edit) / Unchained Melody (Edit)

Description
George Benson brings “Unchained Melody (Edit)” into the soul tradition, where a familiar song can become a fresh meeting between voice, feeling and groove. Benson is a guitarist, and that musician’s touch gives this 1979 release a natural place in the rich conversation between soul and funk. The title appears on both sides, keeping the focus firmly on the song itself. Issued by Warner Bros. as WBS 8843, this American pressing connects a well-loved standard with Benson’s distinctive place in soul music. “Unchained Melody” has endured because its central emotion travels easily from one era and interpretation to the next.
