Harry Belafonte - Merci Bon Dieu / Cu Cu Rru Cu Cu Paloma

Description
Harry Belafonte brings the storytelling spirit of folk and calypso to a pairing that moves between two distinct titles. “Merci Bon Dieu” leads with a phrase that gives this side its own identity; then “Cu Cu Rru Cu Cu Paloma” turns the record toward a second tradition, with its title carrying a different rhythm on the page. Belafonte is known as a singer, and his work connects popular song with the communal pull of folk music. Issued in Germany by Rca Victor as 47-9490, this 7-inch single holds both titles together while letting each keep its own place in the story.
