Herb Alpert - Making Love In The Rain / Rocket To The Moon

Description
Herb Alpert opens this 1987 single with “Making Love In The Rain,” a title that places a little drama right at the heart of a polished pop world. Alpert is a trumpeter, and his work sits at an easy meeting point between pop and jazz—a tradition where instrumental craft can lend a song its own character without crowding its melody. Here, the jazzdance styling gives that pop sensibility a late-eighties setting. The release pairs “Making Love In The Rain” with “Rocket To The Moon,” a second title that broadens the record’s playful sense of possibility. On A&M Records, AM-2949, it reflects pop’s enduring knack for making jazz feel inviting.
