High Cotton - Going Up To Get Down / Going Up To Get Down

Description
Island Records’ 1976 recording brings High Cotton to the fore with “Going Up To Get Down,” a title that appears on both sides of this U.S. single. Folk rock has long found a meeting point between the storytelling pull of folk and rock’s direct energy, giving songs room to feel rooted yet ready to move. High Cotton’s release sits in that tradition, with the repeated title keeping the focus on the song itself. Issued as IS-056, it belongs to a moment when folk-rock could carry familiar songcraft into a concise, electric form. The track’s two appearances make its title the record’s clear refrain.
