Jerry Butler - If It's Real What I Feel / Why Are You Leaving Me

Description
Soul often finds its deepest drama in the space between wanting someone close and fearing they may go. Jerry Butler brings that tension into focus across “If It's Real What I Feel” and “Why Are You Leaving Me,” two titles that give this Mercury single, catalog number 73169, its emotional arc. Butler is a soul singer, and the tradition’s gift for making intimate feeling feel shared is right at home here: a personal question can carry the weight of a whole conversation. The two sides meet at that tender crossroads where certainty slips away, and the heart is left asking what comes next.
