Jim Gilstrap - Take Your Daddy For A Ride / House Of Strangers

Description
Jim Gilstrap brings a soulful voice to this 1975 single, where the titles point toward two very different kinds of company: “Take Your Daddy For A Ride” and “House Of Strangers.” Soul has always made room for both the close, personal address and the mystery of people just beyond reach, and that contrast gives this release its own little narrative before the needle even drops. Gilstrap is a soul singer, and the tradition’s blend of direct feeling and rhythmic lift is right at home here. Released on Roxbury Records as RB 2013, this USA-pressed 7-inch belongs to soul’s enduring language of human connection.
