Joe South - Midnight Rainbows / To Have, To Hold And Let Go

Description
Island Records’ 1975 single brings Joe South’s songwriting into a compact pop-rock setting, with “Midnight Rainbows” paired with “To Have, To Hold And Let Go.” South was a songwriter, and that craft gives this release its natural point of connection to a long tradition of songs built around memorable titles and direct, personal language. The first side offers a striking image; the second names a more intimate promise, with neither title needing embellishment to invite curiosity. Issued in the United States as IS 034, the single belongs to an era when a songwriter’s own name could sit at the heart of a concise, self-contained release.
