John Mitchell - Love On The Phone / Love On The Phone (Rap)

Description
“Love On The Phone” opens the story, while “Love On The Phone (Rap)” turns its title into a spoken-word variation from John Mitchell. Released in 1978, this disco and soul single draws on a lively tradition of dance music that made room for the voice as both melody and conversation. The rap subtitle points toward that conversational side of the record, where words take a place alongside the groove rather than simply decorating it. Issued by T.K. Disco as catalog number 3744, the United States pressing captures a moment when disco’s rhythmic pulse and soul’s expressive vocals could meet in a distinctly playful way.
