Johnnie Taylor - Disco 9000 / Disco 9000

Description
There’s a little movie magic in disco when a theme steps out of the screen and onto the dance floor. Johnnie Taylor brings that crossover spirit to “Disco 9000,” a title that links the glamour of soundtrack music with the pulse of soul and disco. In the seventies, film themes could travel beyond the cinema, finding a second life in clubs and on the radio as dance music gathered new colors. Columbia issued this 1977 single as 3-10610, with “Disco 9000” named on both sides. Taylor’s soul connection gives the soundtrack setting a human center: the voice is where the scene meets the groove.
