Johnny Darrell - Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town / With Pen In Hand

Description
Country songs often turn on a plainspoken line that stays with you, and this single gives Johnny Darrell two chances to make one count. “Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town” brings a familiar title into Darrell’s hands, while “With Pen In Hand” offers a different doorway into the country songbook. The style thrives on direct storytelling: a clear melody, human-scale troubles and feelings set out without fuss. Released in 1979 on Gusto Records Inc. as GT4-2097, this American pressing pairs those two songs in a compact slice of country tradition. Darrell’s voice is the thread joining both titles.
