Ken Matthews - The Mills On Fire / The Mills On Fire

Description
There’s a little country-rock grit in this one. Ken Matthews brings The Mills On Fire to a 1974 single where the rootsy pull of country rock meets the earthy drive associated with Southern rock. That meeting of styles has a way of making rock feel close to the ground: direct, sturdy, and shaped by the traditions it borrows from rather than polished away from them. The Mills On Fire appears on both sides, with the release issued by Stax Records as STN-0233. In a label’s story often linked with soul, this country-rock entry makes an unexpected turn worth noting.
