Linda Ronstadt - Blue Bayou / Old Paint

Description
Linda Ronstadt brings two very different strands of American song together on this 1977 single. “Blue Bayou” draws on the country tradition of longing and return, while “Old Paint” reaches back toward the old cowboy song, a piece of folk heritage carried forward in changing voices and arrangements. Ronstadt is a rock singer, and her place between country rock and soft rock makes that meeting feel natural rather than like a detour. Released in the USA by Asylum Records as E-45431, the single puts a familiar song beside a traditional one, showing how American popular music keeps its roots in circulation.
