Marino Marini Quartet - Libero / Romantica

Description
On Durium, Marino Marini Quartet brings two Italian songs together in a 1959 single: “Libero” and “Romantica.” The titles point to a tradition in which a song’s melody and direct emotional appeal can carry a story across generations, while Italian popular music has long moved easily between intimate sentiment and the lively pulse of everyday life. This English pressing, catalog number 45-DC 16645, places the quartet’s name beside two distinct songs without asking them to compete. Instead, the pairing offers a small meeting with canzone napoletana and musica leggera, traditions made to keep memorable melodies close at hand.
