Mario Lanza - Granada / Lolita

Description
On Rca Victor, 49-4213 pairs Mario Lanza’s “Granada” with “Lolita,” bringing the warmth of the ballad to the concise, direct form of a 7-inch single. Lanza was an operatic tenor, and that tradition gives these popular songs a natural sense of scale: the voice stands at the center, carrying a melody with clarity and feeling. “Granada” and “Lolita” offer two distinct titles without needing a grand story around them; their appeal lies in the enduring craft of a singer meeting a memorable tune. This USA pressing connects Lanza’s operatic background with the accessible language of popular vocal music.
