Marty Balin - Hearts / Freeway

Description
Marty Balin opens “Hearts” with the kind of direct, romantic songwriting that gives pop its enduring pull: a strong melody, a clear feeling, and no need to dress the sentiment up. Balin is a singer-songwriter, and this 1981 single finds that craft at home in polished pop rock, where personal stories meet a broad, radio-ready sweep. “Freeway” takes the other side of the story, its title suggesting a change of scenery without asking us to guess at the song itself. Emi America’s 8084 release carries Balin’s name at the center, while the songs keep the focus on the timeless pleasure of a well-shaped pop melody.
