Mary-Chapin Carpenter - The Hard Way / Goodbye Again

Description
Country songs have long made room for complicated feelings, and Mary-Chapin Carpenter brings that storytelling tradition to the fore on “The Hard Way.” Its title suggests a road learned through experience, while “Goodbye Again” turns toward the difficult work of parting; together, the songs give this 1992 single a thoughtful, human center. Carpenter is a country singer-songwriter, and her writing sits naturally in the space where folk’s close attention to words meets country’s plainspoken emotional directness. Released by Columbia as 38-74930 ZSS 74930, the record pairs two distinct moments of reflection, each shaped around the enduring country-song art of finding meaning in a hard choice.
