Michael Jeffries / Michael Jeffries With Karyn White - Not Thru Being With You / Not Thru Being With You

Description
Warner Bros. Records’ 1989 single brings Michael Jeffries’ “Not Thru Being With You” into the sleek, syncopated world of contemporary R&B and New Jack Swing. The same title returns on the other side, credited to Michael Jeffries With Karyn White, giving this release two distinct artist credits around one song. New Jack Swing brought the swing of hip-hop-informed rhythms into polished R&B, a meeting of sturdy groove and smooth vocal style that defined much late-’80s soul. Here, the song’s repeated presence keeps the focus on the performers and the period’s evolving sound. The catalog number is 7-22797, a compact marker for this 1989 pairing.
