Nancy Wilson - Forbidden Lover / Forbidden Lover

Description
Nancy Wilson’s 1987 Columbia single, 38-07037, brings “Forbidden Lover” into the intimate space where vocal jazz meets soul jazz. Wilson was a jazz singer, and that tradition gives a song title like this a natural home: jazz vocals have long made room for close, expressive storytelling, while soul jazz draws on a warmer, more grounded pulse. “Forbidden Lover” appears on both sides, keeping the focus on the same title throughout. There’s something compelling about a singer returning to one song in a compact release: it invites attention to the words, the phrasing and the character a voice can give a familiar theme. Wilson stands at the heart of that encounter.
