Nazareth - Broken Down Angel / Witchdoctor Woman

Description
Mooncrest’s 1973 single pairs “Broken Down Angel” with “Witchdoctor Woman,” a meeting of titles that gives Nazareth’s classic-rock moment a vivid shape. The Scottish rock band brings this release into the great tradition of guitar-led rock: direct, sturdy songs made to carry a memorable refrain and leave room for a little grit around the edges. There’s a pleasing contrast in the names themselves, one tender and one mysterious, without needing to turn them into a story the record doesn’t tell. Issued as MOON 1 in the United Kingdom, it captures Nazareth at a point when rock’s plainspoken force still had plenty of character.
